engine wont keep running

87- eveinrude 30 hp, was running fine then wouldnt keep running, new plugs. im thinking carb problem, gas wont drain out when i take the screw out on bottom of carb spray gas in carb it fires just few seconds- have had trouble with o ring on the filter. thanks

There is a different cover with nipple for fuel pump, the last one I used cost about 6.00. The o-rings are junk, they swell in gas. You can install clear fuel line between pump and carb try different o-ring intil air bubbles gone.

i just got new fuel pump , still wont run , idle for a min. then quit. do i have to pull starter to take carb off. hope i get manual soon.

sounds like it could be a stuck float in the carb...

i took carb off cleaned it good, it will run now but with choke open. the round cylynder on side of carb is choke, i turn the orange lever down it will run. how do you tell if it is bad? thank's
