I have a Volvo Penta 220hp, 5.0 GL (Carb. engine) on a 2004 20' Ebbtide bowrider, bought brand new 13 months ago.

Just yesterday, I noticed that it was idling a bit high...900 RPMs. Also, the engine was vibrating, something I haven't noticed before.

When I drop into forward gear, I drop down to 700 RPMs, no vibration.

Between 900-1000 RPMs, vibration is back.

1100 RPMs and over, no vibration.

Since the vibration occurs during idle, I ruled out any prop-related problem. Any other thoughts on what this might be? It's still under warranty, so I'm thinking I should take it in, but unsure if I would need to take it in ASAP or if it could wait a few weeks (It's the best part of the summer!).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Matt

Give it a tuneup before you take it in. Tuneups aren't a warrenty item, and if all you need is plugs cap and rotor, why pay them. Check the timing, but don't adjust it, keep the paint on the hold down bolt to prove you haven't been messing with it if it's off.
