Engine tune 1975 85hp Evinrude

G'day all, i have a 1975 85hp evinrude that idles to low and stalls. I would be really grateful if some one could tell me the correct plug gap and idle setting. Other than that it runs o.k , although i find it a bit heavy on the fuel ( 25L an hour @ full noise ) as it's only pushing a 4.5 meter fibreglass 1/2 cab. Thank's in advance.

85 1973 - 1980 CHANPION PLUG L77JC4 or QL77JC4 gapped at .030.

you might have a dirty low speed jet in the carbs.

25L equals 6.6 us gallons. the rule of thumb, for consumption on an 85 hp, is 8.5 gpg, so you are doing good, with 6.6 gph.

....also set the idle to 650 to 750 RPM under load in gear.

That's great!! In the time it took me to do some gardening for the Missus, get my fuel,bait and beer i have all the answers i needed! Now if you can just do something about the rain and wind...... Once again, Thank's, from a very happy (now) Tasmanian!!!
