engine swap

Hey everyone,

I have a 1995 Ebbtide w/ Mercruser GM V6 vortec 4.3. The last time i took the boat out the engine threw a rod. I am wanting to install a Small block GM 350 V8. from my research i should be able to use my Alpha One Gen 2. My question is will this work? Will have to regear or reprop the outboard?

Howdy

Going from a V6 to V8 will work, but you will need to re-prop. Don't know if you will need to re-gear but depends on how much room you have. If your running a 21 now, this gives less room to find higher pitches then if you where running a 17 or so.

Question: Your in the OMC section, you say its a Mercruiser, and the last word in you statement is "outboard", so are we talking about a Merc V6 to V8 swap?

i have no clue what OMC is. its has engine inside and prop outside. I posted here because i didnt know where to post and im trying to get as much info as possible asap. im doing the swap this week need to know what i need to do to the alpha one genII drive if any.

We'll get it moved to the Merc section to get some more input

As before don't see any changes to the drive right now, if later it is needed, the drive comes off it 15 minutes
