right now i have the 485 (470) mercruiser. i have been told alot of bad things about these motors. would it be possible to do a mtotr swap with just changing motot to another one and what motor would it be

Dont believe everything you hear, they are a good engine, but DO have some quirks. If yours is working fine, just go boatin...

I'm with Nutcase, but listen to the hype.
These are great engines. They have a ton of power and are light as they can be. They are easy on the gas also.

Some parts are on the hard side to find and can be costly, but you can still find them if you look. If it runs and has no exhaust pipe issues your good to go.

Does your run, if so how well?

To answer the question. Yes you can swap it, but your better off naving a doner boat to get the motor out of with all the parts.

470, 485, 488 are a breed of their own.
They are a Merc design and use parts from all makes.
