I am getting ready to swap out my 2.5 for a 3.7 including outdrive.....should I change the gimble bearing as well? What about the alignment in this case, I know I will need the tool as well, this is the fist time I've done this one. After I hook everything up again, before installing the outdrive, what are some things I need to look for, listen for, etc?

Re: Engine swap/ outdrive swap

Why would you do that?????????????????
Yeah. "Out of the frying pan and directly into the FIRE!

After I hook everything up again, before installing the outdrive, what are some things I need to look for, listen for, etc?
Do a search for "470" or "Mercruiser 3.7L" and you'll find a PLETHORA of things to "consider"

I would change the gimbal bearing and bellows unless they are "perfect" and yes you'll need to align it properly or you'll be pulling the engine soon........

Good luck! You WILL need it.....

Re: Engine swap/ outdrive swap

For everyone reading, here is the thread with the start of this project. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=572354

.should I change the gimble bearing as well?

If it's bad, replace it. No sense replacing a good bearing.

What about the alignment in this case, I know I will need the tool as well, this is the fist time I've done this one.
Spend some time reading this thread http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=329915
There is a complete section on alignment. along with a lot of other information,

After I hook everything up again, before installing the outdrive, what are some things I need to look for, listen for, etc?
Anything and everything. If it's not right fix it, if you aren't sure about something, ask.
