Engine Swap on a Stingray boat

I am looking at a purchase of a 1994 Stingray 20ft. boat that has a 4.3L V6 and an Alpha 1 outdrive. The owner described it as having water in the oil......a lot. Heads? Cracked block? I have a good 1995 5.7 vortec Mercruiser that I would swap out for the V6. Is this feasible? Does anyone know if Stingray had a V8 option that year?

Any help appreciated!

Use the search function and you will find many have performed that swap. You might find that your gear ratio is not going to be like factory. You may be able to re prop to make it work. I don't know. Stingray had many options like any other manufacturer. Heck, you could have probably had a big block bravo setup as original option! 4.3 in that 20' would be absolutely a minimum ... that 5.7 would be best. Goodluck!

I found this link which seems to suggest that they may have come with a 5.0L

Make sure you are getting a good price on the boat so that the $$$$ works in your favor.
