I have a 1983 70 hp Johnson that stalls when you put it in gear. It starts and idles fine but dies when you try to put it in gear. The carbs have been rebuilt, the gas is good, compression is okay and it has new spark plugs. I took apart some of the fuel lines to clean them and opened the fuel pump as well-could that have any effect?
Thanks for the replys
Martin

Martin.
This is the third time you have posted on this problem. You are defeating your purpose.

Almost every suggestion you have gotten you have contradicted, offered new info or ignored.

You need all of the conversation in one place and you need to confirm that
1. Your carbs are working.
2. Your fuel pump is working.
3. There are no restrictions in your fuel flow.
4. Your fuel is free of water.

Good luck. :)

Dear JB
thanks for the response, don't mean to be contradictory. My lastest post is a new problem, everything remains the same as before except now the engine stalls when put in gear, thought maybe another problem had arisen which is a result of something else.
Thanks
Martin

Re: Engine stalls when put in gear

had the same problem whit my jonhson 150 -87, i had also cleaned my carb...once, but it was a lot of **** coming from a broken silocone gasket in the vro pump, so i took it down again and the tiniest little particle stopped gas from coming up to my second cylinder, and now its working good, little bit of sneezing on idle but thats harmless. You must have compressed air when you will blow the **** away from all the small places it can stuck on.

Andreas, i had to do it twice couse it was still **** in the lines.
