Engine stalls at idle, surges and slows after start, 5.7 gxi 2004 dp

twin vp 5.7gxi's dps 2004

symptoms--

• • port engine is hard to start when hot (but starts fine cold)
  • going to idle off of plane it usually dies unless done gradually
  • hard to dock because doesn't idle well
  • sometimes idles at 1200 and seems to stick too high
  • surges down to 100/300 then 100/500 after starting
  • has to be started with throttle open 1/2 open or so.
  • sometime get a bit of blue smoke after starting, not too much for an 7 year old engine.
  • white condensate much more out of this engine that other.
  • engine runs great while running
  any ideas what is causing this and what I can do to fix it before I bring it to mechanic to "troubleshoot"?
  
  changed distributer caps, spark plugs, and fuel pump
  problem persists

Did you resolve this issue...I have same engines and experiencing the exact same symptoms. Was going to replace the IAC as a start.
