Re: engine replacement

If you dont get any replies on here, call Rapido Marine in FL. They will be able to answer your questions and when you are ready for the new one, you cant beat their prices. A rebuilt 5.0 long block is 1250.00 plus 150.00 shipping with no core charge and it only took 6 days. 3 days to build the engine and 3 days to ship. I'm dropping my new one in this weekend.

Re: engine replacement

If you go with a V8 istead of the 4cyl you will need everything that bolts to the block to do the job. Manifolds, y pipe, engine wiring harness, etc.

Ayuh,.... Just how Broken is it,..?? Being a Yamaha, you might be in a world of Hurt....
Your Only way out might be another Chevy 4.3l long block of the exact same vintage....

Re: engine replacement

If you can take in out, you can put it in. Alignment is all you need to really worry about.

Why not send them your engine and ask them to re-build it?

Be prepared for less than a week turnaround. I ordered my 305 last friday and it was delivered yesterday. Im planning on pulling the old one tonight and installing the new one in the morning.

Re: engine replacement

Most Marine engines have forged cranks and connecting rods. Auto engines (except for the high performance ones) use cast iron crankshafts. I wonder if they take Automotive blocks and just and some brass frost plugs? Hard to get that many marine engines without getting the cores back
