I have a 1990 24ft Suntracker Party Barge that I have redone and there is not a label or sticker on it stating the size engine it is rated for or how many occupants you can have on the boat. Can anypone either give me those answers or tell me where I can find them?

Boats are required, by law, to have a maximum capacity plate from the factory (i believe it may even be a law they have to have them at all times?). If yours has been removed or is otherwise missing, I think your best bet would be to call suntracker or whomever manufactured the boat to ask. Maybe somebody with a 24 footer will chime in with theirs, which should be fairly close.

I agree with coleman that you don't want to explain to "The Man" why you don't have one.

In the meantime, an educated guess is 115hp and 10 persons. That is a common boat so it won't be long before someone with one will provide a definitive answer.

^ Indeed. When the Coast Guard auxiliary inspected my boat this year, that was one of the things they checked.

Also, seeing as its a pretty common boat and known brand I would think contacting the manufacturer could yield answers, they may even be able to send you a duplicate plate

Call Suntracker. http://www.suntrackerboats.com/ The overworked and underpaid lady on the other end of the line will probably insist on hearing your serial number, which of course you don't have since the plate is gone. Once you've explained the situation (assuming she doesn't defy the odds and go ahead and tell you what you need to know) ask to be transferred to parts. Someone there should be able to help. By the way, I'm not dissing the folks who answer the phone. They just have a very limited scope with regard to what they can do for you, probably because of liability issues and a limit to the amount of info available to them. Good luck.

Oh, and by the other way, I wouldn't count on a dealer for the definitive answer either.

There probably will be a registration tag for the state and the S/N should be on that. It should also be on the right side of your transom (when viewed from the back).

My 1987 Party Barge has a tag stateing 115hp engine max and 12 people. Guess they figured people weighed different each year. With the present economy the people section would probably read 15 or 16 assuming they don't weigh as much during lean years as they do in years of plenty?????????

Btw, I just looked at it again today. It also says 2000lbs max load.
