I have 1973 Luhrs w/ twin Chrysler 318's no electronic ignition. Engines start fine when cold & will run 10-15 minutes no problem. BUT--heres the pain in the neck'! After running high throttle for a couple of hours and coming back to dock - throttling at idle speed for about 10 minutes the starboard engine suddenly quits (like you turned off the key) And it will not start again until the engine cools. <br /> Any ideas? Sure appreciate it!

I had a simular problem with my 5.7 Merc. A carb rebuild kit solved my problem.

If I was to guess, I'd say ignition. When it dies agian check your ballast resistor to see if voltage is passing thru with the key on. If so make sure you have voltage to the coil.If not check the harness and key switch. Might check the coil for oil film on or around it. Could be breaking down under load. Could be a condenser breaking down as well but i'd lean towards the resistor or coil. Fuel problems tend to stick around. Cooling the engine shouldn't affect most fuel problems. Good luck
