engine problems 33hp evinrude

whats up, i just got 13 foot fiberglass boat. and a 33hp evinrude. both engine and boat was made in 1965. took for spin in the lagoon and the motor throdled up way high then down then smoked and died.got a commpresion check top spark was 90 and bottom was 45 .i don't know if i got a stuck piston or blown engin please help

Pull the head off and take a look. Might get lucky and see an original blown head gasket.

and if its just a head gasket check the t-stat if used and check the water pump. or better yet buy a pump kit.<br /> I cant remember if the 33 used a t-stat. the early 35's did and the 60's 40 did but I dont think the 33 did. anyway if the cylinders look good, surface the head and replace the gasket then fix the cause of the blown gasket or it will do it again.<br /> good luck and keep posting
