Engine paint

Almost got all the kinks out of the old motor and may restore(paint) the outside. Anyone have a source for new decals for a 1996 88 spl? Also, is the evinrude blue metallic spray paint what to use with proper prep and priming? Or is there another product which will be better?

you can get the part # from Evinrude's site for the decal kit but it lists it as dealer order and not online but at least you can get the right decal for that year/model

They also list the paint information there as well

96 is not an OLD motor, it is just broken in good.

I hear ya. I just put a new(used 2002) power pack on it(had a coil not firing, tried swapping no luck) and what a difference. Starts great but now I have to back down idle about 250 rpm. Going for a test ride later or in the AM.
