engine overheated, now gas comes out of carbs

Hi All,

I have a 1996 Johnson 200 HP that overheated after running fine all day. The horn never sounded but the engine was extreemly hot when it stalled out as I idled to my dock. The next day I started the engine but gas shot out of the right bank of carbs while idling. I checked the compression that read good in all cylinders. I then removed the intake and cheched the reeds that also looked good. Any ideas why gas would shoot out of the carbs?

Likely it is unrelated to the overheat. But check the plastic carb bowls for warpage and missing parts. Sounds like a carb rebuild is in your future. You will want to fix the overheat problem as well. Did the motor go into SLOW? If not you need to find out why not....
