engine overheat after thermostat and pump change

johnson 25 4 stroke changed impeller and thermostat found impeller had broken blades missing could these parts have clogged somewhere else in the cooling system to cause overheating

Yes... Those broken blades have to be somewhere. I'm not well versed in the 4 stroke models BUT encountering a water blockage within the 2 stroke family after vane breakage... that's a common problem. Time to get the wire snake with a hook on the end out of storage. Wish you luck.

I find it easiest to remove the lower unit. Then back flush water in through the thermostat housing and out the lower water tube. You can put a colendar under the water tube to catch the bits if you want
