I have read in the archives that the Alpha's need 6 quarts of oil in the engine, but can't find anything on the OMC units. Mine is a 1987 350, and the owner's manual is in the boat, 120 miles away. I want to buy the oil here before I go to change it this weekend. Anybody have an information on this? Probably it's the same as the Alpha's? I think I'm safe with AC Delco PF 35 or 1218 for the filter. Thanks, Steve

If you bring 6qt.s,... You'll have enough......

I'd drop in 5,+ Run,+ Check it before adding the 6th.......

I wouldn't worry,I'd buy the extra quarts.I would also use OMC/MERC/VOLVO oil filters. For your investment in boating, one of the last places I'd look to scrimp would be engine/drive lubricant.

DHP

Doesn't hurt to pick up a quart more than you need. I have a 78 GM 5.7 350 and 6 quarts is right about on the money with a new filter, but I always keep a quart in the boat. It's to simple to check and keep level not to have it.

The ac 35 filter is a very large one.Make sure you have the clearance. If not then use an ac 25.The 35 will also account for the extra oil capacity.Charlie
