so i bought the wrong type of oil for my motor. i got a 4 stroke outboar engine oil, SAE 10W-40, can i still use it in my motor? i have to mix it with the gas anyways, just dont know if it will mess anything up. i used 2-cycle oil before.

also on my motor where do i add the gear oil. i see the screw on the side of my lower unit, but i thought it was a drain. is there a specific fill spot for gear oil?

is there any other fluids i should top up on the motor?

Do not use engine oil as a pre mix, buy the right stuff, Their 2 screws on the LU one is a drain, its at the bottom, and one on top thats the vent and full level when filling

If you buy Quicksilver premium lower unit oil in the quart, most of the time there is a hose and pump that either comes with it or is sold where the oil is sold. The drain is on the bottom of the gear case and the top hole is the vent. Open both to drain. The drain screw may contain a magnet and they are usually full of gear particles.....their function....collecting such as they are normal.

Once drained, with the engine vertical, screw the hose adapter into the lower hole and pump till oil comes out of the vent. Install the vent screw and preferably with a new gasket. Unscrew the fill adapter from the drain hole with the screw (with new gasket) in the other hand to install as soon as possible to limit spillage; a slight amount is normal.

Use the TC-W3 rated 2 stroke oil and put the other in your lawn mower or something. Wally World has all of it.

4 stroke engine oil is the same thing you would put in a car or truck engine and made for crank case. Never tried it but I doubt it will mix (blend) well with gas.
