Finally figured out one of the problems with my 89 120HP rude but still got one more left. I have been getting a constant alarm, even when the engine is not running. Found problem to be the oil sensor. Oil ball was also hard as a rock, going to replace that as well. Have not ordered parts and have not tested engine after this repair.
The other problem I have been having with this engine is that it does not run very well at low speeds. It bucks and kicks and sputters and sometimes stalls. The engine does not have this problem at high speeds and runs like a champ. Think the problem might be that the low speed jet is clogged, so I am going to rebuild carb. This job sounds pretty risky to me so I was wondering if anyone knows a really good evinrude mechanic in Virginia or Maryland. Preferably northern VA or DC suburbs in MD. THANKS!
