I am having an issue getting my engine running, and especially it seems getting gas.

If I pour a little down the carb, I can get the engine running for a minute and it dies down. If i give it even the slightest throttle it does as well.

I seem to occasionally get a humming sound from my fuel pump after starting. Only reason this concerns me or gets my attention is because I installed the fuel filter/water seperator in this thread to replace my inline fuel filter, and wondering if I've done something wrong.

Then again my carb could just be jacked up too. It's a 2 barrel mercarb.

This is right after i poured a little gas down the carb.

It sounds like there may be a fuel hose collapsing somewhere. Check and make sure all hoses are in good working order. And I would also get the carb rebuilt.

Could be the gas is bad too. Has it been sitting for awhile? If so had you put stabilizer in it prior? My boat I just bought had a full tank of gas, but it had been sitting for about a yr with very little use. It's starts so hard That at first I thought it was the timing because I had just had new engines and hei dizzy's installed. But after doing some trouble shooting I found that The engines when cold just won't start on this gas in the tank. Once hooked up to an outside source of fuel it would fire right up.

Also if it's been sitting awhile the carb is probably gunked up and could be a root of the problem as well.

Prime the filter with new clean gas. Any air leaks between the tank and the WSFuel filter will prevent gas from getting to the filter.

I was having these exact same issues with mine, similar situation, recent purchase with a tank full of old gas. A carb rebuild, new filters, and a fresh tank of gas later and she purrs like a kitten.

Also, have you pulled your plugs to see if they are getting fouled?? Bad or un-burnt gas will blacken 'em quite quickly!
