Engine info ?? volvo 230 a

Just wanted to see if anybody knows about the volvo penta 230 a engine. Is this engine fresh water cooled or raw water. Looking at a boat a 1993 wellcraft excel with this type of motor. Could any body give me some of thier thoughts on this motor weater they are good or bad dosent matter. could not find any info on the internet about this one.. Thanks.

120hp 4 cyl 2.3L (141ci) OHV fresh water cooled.<br /><br />Good strong motor but it may well be past it's use by date. It is also a bit underpowered for todays standards.<br /><br />My opinion, get her surveyed (epecially a comp test) before you part with hard earned cash.<br /><br />Aldo

Here is some literature on that engine and drive.<br /> 230/SP <br /><br />Here is where you can download an operators manual.<br /> Operators Manual <br /><br />The Volvo service manual for that engine is part number 7732007, don't waste your time on aftermarket manuals.
