Engine ID

I have a 6hp Evinrude Model # 69D4E, Ser #<br />J00101170. I'm trying to find out the year so I can order gaskets and seals kit(s) for the lower end. I believe it is a mid-seventies motor, but I'm not sure. The motor cover is flat on the side that mates to the powerhead. Any help much is appreciated.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />George Nochta

I found a model # 6904 is a 1979 but I couldn't find any 69 'D' model listing

bobq, Is correct.See if the model no. reads 6904E.

Yes,<br /><br />After applying my reading glasses the model number is indeed 6904E. The engine has been on a motor stand in my garage for two years and I noticed oily film and a spot on the floor that appears to be coming from the bottom end. It's the split case bottom end and I'm trying to determine the exact year so I can trouble shoot and repair the problem. Any help appreciated<br /><br />Thanks GeorgeN
