Hey folks new guy here, plz forgive this question if there is a place to go, just bought a used boat, and I'm in Canada, found the serial # on the motor which is 7160301, but of course this # doesn't exist for parts ordering or even a clue as to the year, they said it might be a 1978 but its 2 stroke 20hp, anyone know a place to convert serial #s to US?

I think it is more likely a 1980 or 1981.. Mastertech marine lists Canadian serial numbers.

Do you have a link? This is a Canadian serial #, the jack plate was installed because the old owner had a long shaft, it will be coming off when I get the motor mount made in my shop

Just google Mastertech.ca. Maxrules is another site that has serial #s.

So you will be taking off one Jack Plate and replacing it with a different one...
