Can anyone help? I'm trying to identify the motor in my boat. Its an '87 with a gm 5.7ltr with a 275 vp outdrive with power steering. I've been trying to order parts but having trouble not being sure what I have.

The Tag by the transum has PN 867900 8617
Serial# 724881

The tag on the top of the outdrive reads 853574
also says 275A

Can anyone tell what model AQ???

Thanks for any help.

Probably 260 D .Most of these used the same parts. The difference between B-C-D were minimal. What parts are you wanting to buy? Jerry

Re: Engine Id volvo penta

I was just trying to order an impeller but i figured it out using the part number on the housing cover.

Thanks for the info. After reading hundreds of postings I couldn't figure out the HP rating. The power steering was mixing me up as well. The VP store doesn't list a aq260d, only a and b. A has power steering but a different impeller housing part#, B has my impeller but no power steering. Maybe I'm overanalizing but don't want the wrong parts.

I just bought the boat as a fixer upper and have been working out the kinks.
The Impeller housing seems to wobble and must be hard on the crank bearings so I ordered a new impeller. The old one looks okay in the housing but can't hurt to change out. Any suggestions on the wobble?

I'm pretty sure this has a car motor in it with all the volvo stuff bolted back on. What do you think of that, am I in for problems? I was told the block was the same, I had the heads rebuilt and reassembled with marine gaskets.

My outdrive lift sounds like its laboring, can those be lubed or serviced?

All comments are appreciated.

BBBB sorry. It is a chev motor. But it was marinized!!! The lift units can be serviced.I don't think the elec.motor can be rebuilt. The gears and drive components can be taken apart and greased.Jerry
