what are my options for getting an engine for the intex excursion 5?

we have one and want to use it this summer.

im new to the site, found it searching on google, searched through several posts here already, and found some good stuff, but not straight answers..

what about registering the boat? have heard if it's electric it doesn't need to be registered? gas it does? what about running lights?

i know there are electrics and gas engines, i will need to getthe motor mount kit for it.

what is the biggest engine i can put on it?

how fast will that engine go, if the boat is fully loaded?

thanks in advance!

EDIT: also, what about using the boat in saltwater? what about the motor? i see some people here running a minnkota 30? can i go bigger than that? or am i limited because of its weight or what? what about the shaft length?

interlux has the weight and HP ratings for that boat, should have come with it. depends on the state about registering, i had to register mine in FL. mine came with the motor mount, 3 hp maximum hp. it is fun, but just does not get you there fast. you will have to have a certificate of origin. here > http://www.intexcorp.com/boats_cert_origin.html

your boat also has a capacity label on the stern of the boat. that is what you have to go by.

this is just for info, looks like they has decrease the HP rating. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...store&ssPageName=STORE:HTMLBUILDER:SIMPLEITEM

Re: engine for intex excursion 5

so... we ended up getting a motor..... 4 years later.....

hopefully the boat still holds air as it has been in storage all that time.....

we got a minn kota endure c2 55# trolling motor. it weighs 27 pounds according to amazon.....

now... we are looking for budget battery to get it going...... what should we be looking at? like amp hours, group size, etc

also, the link above to the certificate of origin seems to be invalid. anyone know where to get one now? I will try going on index's site in a few minutes and look around for it

Here is the link you need Welcome to Intex Recreation | Certificate of Origin

Just bought an Intex Mariner this week and sent off my boat registration for North Carolina, you need to send your original purchase receipt also to most states. I see my check has been cashed so it probably means that my registration is now in the post without a hitch.

I bought a Minn Kota 40 trolling motor also from Amazon (don't forget to mail off for your rebate) but have not had chance to use it as it has been a bit too windy this weekend for a newbie to be going on a "maiden voyage". I bought an Everstart Marine battery 29DC at Walmart for $ 102 with tax and core charge, then decided to get a Minn Kota Power center for it also from Walmart to sit in for $ 55 keeps it protected and also gives a couple of cigar lighter outlets which will be useful if only for cell phone charging etc They don't keep battery boxes near the batteries for some reason at least at my store you find them in the boat accessories. Also thought about getting a spare propeller, maybe next time. Does anybody know if they break easily if you run aground by accident ?

Now starting to think about making my own floorboard which apparently makes the stability really good.

Hope this helps.
