I am fairly prudent about flushing my engine after being in the brine once it's back on the trailer. Usually for the weekend, it is only in the water for a couple of days. But once a year, I stay at the beach house for a week and leave the boat in the water, running it nearly all day, everyday. ( Well, at least 4-6 hours). I figured any salt that was inside was flushed out each day by running it and then I gave it a good flush at the end of the week when it was back on the trailer. Should I flush it everyday? What would I do, put the muffs on and submerge them and the hose while running water? Please tell me that is overkill and it is not necessary. I have watched the Dry Stack folks lift outboard boats out, hose them down and put them away without a flush on many occassions. What happens to those engines?
