Engine Diesling

I have a merccruiser 4.3L, which runs great. The problem is when I shut down the engine. The diesling occurs at random, not all of the time. Its not more frequent when running in hot vs warm days, in Tennessee.

Last weekend I tried a can of fuel stabilizer, which made no difference. The gas used is Shell Plus (89 octane).

Any suggestions.

Do you let it idle before shutting it off.
30 sec. to 1 minute should get rid of any dieselling.....
