Engine cuts out

i have a sprint 255 with a 70 hp johnson (1976) it idles fine for awhile sometimes cutting off sometimes not but every time i put it in gear to go the engine shuts off every now and then it will go but only when i out it in full throttle and then it it sputters for awhile before it gets up to speed i dont know if its a fuel line or something else. help someone?

mine did this twice first time it was the fuel pump the second time a blown head gasket. i have 1974 70hp johnson

IF YOU HAVE CARBS..WHICH YOU SHOULD ON THAT YEAR MOTOR,THE SPUTTERING COULD BE CAUSED BY STOPPED UP JETS INSIDE THE CARB
