Ok - I just replaced my upper unit with an SE106 1.98 Upper. All went well and I am pleased. Unfortunately, a new problem has presented itself. On my first voyage out today, I discovered that the engine DIES at approximately 1750 RPM's (give or take 100 or 200 if I am babying the throttle in a big way). When I say dies, it's almost as if somebody turned the key off.
My first inclination was fuel starvation, but after reading some, I think a bad / maladjusted shift cable may be to blame.
Prior to replacing the upper half of my drive, I had absolutely no problem punching the throttle and running it up to 4500 RPM's.
I bow to the wisdom of the iBoats experts (and anxiously await their very qualified opinions).
