Does anyone have an old carburated 90 tohatsu block and a 90TLDI to compare, I would like to know how the TLDI case is cooled.
Cheers.

Re: engine cooling

As far as i can tell it is not water cooled any different. With out the cooling of the gas in the case i bet they run some hot bearing temps, We learned right away on the snowmobiles that if you take the fuel mixture out of the bottom end you have to water cool around the crankcase or the bearings will never last. Running cooler case temps is good for power too because your intake air stays denser.

Do you actually have a carburated 90 block and a TLDI block? Somewhere along the way, actually it was a former Tohatsu dealer, told me that one of the selling points Tohatsu played for the TLDI system was that Tohatsu was using an old standby for their new system. Can you tell me whether that is true? Surely they must have modified the old block. Cheers.
