engine compartment filled with seawater

Have a 1996 kawasaki zxi 1100, a small hose (from the block) came off the fitting under the carburators, flooded the compartment. Removed drain plug and towed back to the house (under 10 mph). Found the cylinder heads to be filled with water. Removed water and tried to start. No luck. Ski attempted to start after a few tries, but won't do anything now. Any help?

Part 2
After reading a few forums on a different ski, I was able to get it running, but now it runs rough and won't idle. It will go wide open throttle and run smooth. It will miss intermittently at any other rpm.

Also the ski smokes quite a bit. This has been going on for a few years. Is there a way to reduce the amount of oil the (injector) delivers.

Thanks
Randy

Thanks for the response, the link you sent me to is the one I found to help me.

Do you know of a way to correct the smoking issue?

synthetic oil kawasakis seem to smoke a lot at idle it is normal, I had one that drove me crazy in no wake zones with the wind to my back, but it kept the mosquitos away, you can look at the oil pump and see if the marks are lined up at idle perhaps the pump is set a little rich there are 2 notches on the pump that should be alighned when at idle. as you give it gas the notch on the cable cam moves forward showing the pump is giving it more oil, at rest that notch should be even with the notch in the center of the pump housing

Is it ok to mix the gas / oil so I can control the amount of smoke, or just deal with it.

I will check the notches on the pump.

Thanks again for your help

if you go to pre mix you need to do away with the oil pump,, theoretically the variable oil pump actually uses less oil at idle than the pre mix situation and is why they went to it, your pump may be adding more oil at idle than it needs, .look in to replacing the pump and first be sure it is set correctly.
