What would be the better choice in a new 115 HP rang? Bombardiers or Yamaha, carborated or fuel injected. Reliability and dependabilty a must.

Re: Engine choices

both excellent engines, but bombardier has made huge improvements on a already good engine. evinrude is faster, more mid range and cheaper for parts down the line

Where do you live? Every area has a following. Where we are its Yamaha country. Dry stacks 75% to 80% Yamaha.

Re: Engine choices

With either one you limit yourself to 2-strokes with carburetion and 4-strokes with the fuel injection. Both have benefits and drawbacks, so it depends on your use, dealer service, cost, weight, etc.

You can't get a 115 (Yamaha or Johnson) 4-stroke with carbs, only fuel injection. And you can't get a 115 (Yamaha or Johnson) 2-stroke with fuel injection, only carbs.

So you've either got to pick 2/4 stroke, or carbs/fuel injection.

I've owned both the carbed 115 2-stroke Yamaha and the F115 4-stroke FI Yamaha. Both have been very reliable and dependable. The F115 is probably the sweetest and most enjoyable outboard I've ever owned, and I would feel confident recommending it to anyone. :)

If you go Evinrude 115 you'll have to go FICHT. The Suzuki DF 115 is, in most part, the Johnson 115.

Most outboards these days are fine pieces of equipment. Choices, choices..... :D

Yamaha, for reliability. In this part of the country, it's the favored offshore motor.
