tahatsu 40hp 1997 ,has auto oil injection.
problem .. engine runs fine up to 300rpm,then the buzzer goes off in remote control. when i put shift lever in neutral ,wait 30sec. the buzzer goes off.. i have had the water pump completely replaced. water sensor replaced.. have been told that the oil sensor may be bad. oil injection seems to working fine ,oil level drops as the engine is running. i was told to disconnect the oil sensor and disconect the oil injector system.
question is ... i can find the oil sensor,, and i don't know to turn off the oil injector system,, and just mix the oil with the gas. the buzzer is driveing me crazy. i can run engine all day below 3000rpms and have no problems, thank you

Re: engine buzzer goes above 3000rpms

dnero,

I had the same problem in the past with an old Force outboard. Same thing, except mine would go off above 4500 rpm. Spent about a month diagnosing the problem. What it turned out to be was a scored cylinder wall in one of the cylinders. When the RPM rose above a certain amount, the additional friction in that cylinder raised the cylinder head temperature into the critical zone and set off the alarm. IF I let her sit for about 15 minutes, I could start her back up and it would be OK until it got hot once again. Unfortunately, rebuilding the block was a timely repair to make and I wasn't really attached to the FORCE, so I got rid of the engine.

I'd recommend pulling the head and looking at the walls. If its not too bad, then maybe re-honing them and a new set of rings may inexpensively solve your problem.

Nav
