Engine bogs down under load

Hi I have a 2004 Yamaha 115 mod no.115txrc, and today when I was backing the boat in the river it kept bogging down when given more gas, but when I finally got in river it ran find all day until I tried to reload on trailer and i give it gas to push the boat it just bogs down and shut, finally had to wrench it on, any idea what could be wrong

might explain better why you were running the motor when backing into the river.
was the boat still on the trailer at an angle?
and was it back at the same angle when trying to load it back up?

if so maybe you have water in the tank and it is picked up with boat at an angle

Yes it was, Ill try checking filters and for water tomorrow

I would guess someone else was backing the trailer down the ramp and the op was in the boat, started the motor once the lower unit was under water

Yes the engine was in the water but was trying to force boat off trailer into the water, boat still was sitting a little on trailer

Today I remover the fuel filter and the water separator and the gas was good, no water but I had ran it in the yard yesterday flushing the engine

if this thing is fuel injected, drain the VST to see if there is water in there.

also are you raising the motor while this problem is happening, or all the way down?

Can’t be as simple as it just being because it’s on the trailer ? If so, don’t expect it to sound and rev as potently as it would normally. If you chain your car to a brick wall, it would probably sound similar
