I cannot figure out how to remove the lower (not the bottom) cowling/pan on my 1995 90hp Johnson...I have 2 manuals now & neither of them say how to do it...& for the life of me I cannot figure it out, unless I need to remove the powerhead to do so, which seems a little extreme. I am trying to replace themostats. PLEASE HELP!!! ANYONE

Re: engine body problem

That was my post, originally....those bolts are no where to be found, unless they are under the powerhead. I figured out how to remove the cover under the pan, but still need to remove the pan.

Re: engine body problem

I would also like to no how to take the pan off my 90 hp. 3 boults broke off the plate that is situated between the cylinderheads. I can only get to them to drill them out if the pan is removed. If you get an answer, just let me know

We assume you have the crossflow 1995 90 hp. If so just pop the powerhead off and you will see the bolts to remove the lower pan.

You dont really need to do that to replace the t-stats unless you want to.
