Ayuh,.... There might be a water temp switch, if so, pull the wire off it, 'n ground it, the alarm should sound,.....
There might be an oil pressure switch, do the same to it, 'n the alram will sound,....
There may also be more, but I donno yer motor,...

I would suggest testing the alarm only up behind the helm with grounding the side which goes to the ECM. Reason being, is if you do get the alarm to go off by grounding sensors, this will set the flag in the ECM. Once set it can not be unset without reprograming. This flag will not hurt the motor and will run just fine, but if you go to sell, and a scanner is connected, it will show that these sensors have flag a problem.

A flag for low lube oil isn't bad, but low oil pressure or over heat would raise questions

Guys

I have the Rinda scan tool so I could reset the code, can the alarm be tested with the Rinda tool ?

You can clear the code but the flag will be set, just to make sure I'm not mistaken, Fun Times can you advise? The motor will clear the code it self after a few restarts. I to have the scanner, but don't think it can do that.

While I can't say for certainty yes or no on your engine ECM design, The ECM being a newer design that offers Various other Discreat outputs, you might be able to test the warning horn system as there may be an option within the scan tool to at least give it a try...If the warning horn test system is there, it won't hurt anything to give it a try...If it works, the horn should sound at the very least one second as that seemed to have been mentioned somewhere as I reading but the horn may sound more like a few seconds much like the Mercruiser 555 ECM as it offers the warning horn output test so your EGC ECM designed system may as well as I read both ECM Functions and Warning Monitor in the Rinda user guide on page 22 that covers Volvo.

The engine control module (ECM) of the Volvo Penta Electronic Gas Control s system (EGC) is designed to maintain exhaust emission levels while maintaining excellent driveability and fuel efficiency. The ECM controls the following conditions:•The fuel control•The ignition control (IC)•The knock sensor (KS) system•The idle air control (IAC)•Various other discrete outputs The engine control module (ECM) is the control center of the engineand controls the following systems:•The fuel metering system•The ignition timing•The on-board diagnosticsThe ECM constantly monitors the information from various sensorsand controls the systems that affect performance and emissions.

ECM Functions The ECM Functions option provides access to a variety of EGC functional tests. • IMPORTANT: Before performing any ECM or engine test refer to the engine manufacturer’s service literature for safety precautions and proper engine test procedures. To access the ECM Functions menu perform the following steps: 1) After selecting the “ECM Functions“ option from the scanner’s main EGC system menu you will be presented with a sub-menu containing a variety of test functions. 2) Use the ?? and ?? keys to select the desired menu item then press YES.

Or do you have the EVC system similar to this design, http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=...80&FORM=WRVORC

You may be interested in wanting to join up with this place in order to read one of your service manuals listed under your engine serial number, https://www.scribd.com/doc/118130011/operation-manual-volvo

If this works on your end another option for a manual would be, http://volvopenta.store.elanders.co...id=EWS2_M3ProductDetails.ax&search=id:7743614

Not sure if this will work but here maybe your engine parts list, https://www.volvopentashop.com/epc/...og/7746190?path=MarineGasolineEngines/7746190

When you turn the key on without starting and the alarm is sounding doesn't that verify the oil pressure test?

A lot of the MPI systems typically do sound the warning horn at first key up mostly used as an self test mode along with a telltale sign to the operator that the horn system is working right or not. It's a function of the ECM for EFI's, etc... Usually carbureted engines would be more tied into the oil systems.

On carbed engines, the Klaxon under the engine cover, is wired to the oil pressure switch and to the exhaust riser temp sensors
Shorting the wires going to the exhaust manifold temp sensors to ground will verify the wires, but not the sensors
