Couldn't find anyone to go fishing with. All my usual fishing buddies had these lame excuses like, work, paying the rent, feeding the family, etc. So, determined to go fishing, I drive down to the fishin' hole with yours truly. I was the one and only idiot at the boat landing. Being low tide I had to back down the ramp farther than usual and you guessed it! I heard that unmistakable thump when the wheels ran out of concrete and the trailer frame fell down on the ramp. Now I know why some landings won't let you drive on your trailer. The engines wash out a hole at the end of the ramp (heaven only knows how deep) when they rev up to drive on. Anyway, there I am with that deer in the headlight look, standing on the dock wondering what in heck am I going to do now. I tried pulling it out but, the frame where the springs are attached hangs straight down and would just bump the end of the ramp. The temperature being about 35-F, I hated to do it but, I pulled off my shoes, socks, and pants and waded out about waist deep and pulled the end of the trailer over past the ramp end and found an old 2x4 and wedged it under the axle and by some miracle it came out. There was some houses nearby but, there was a row of shrubbery and some trees and I was sure I was alone in this ordeal but, as I was drying my freezing rearend and getting my clothes back on I could see in a break in the shrubbery there were two women who witnessed the whole event. They must have enjoyed the show cause they had the biggest smiles on their faces and waved goodbye as I got in my truck and turned the heater wide open and drove off into the morning sun.
