Heard on the radio a while ago that Ford will produce the last of the Tauruses(Tauri?) during the first 3 months of '06. It will end a 21-year model run era. There's got to be a record in there somewhere.

I've owned 2 and both were OK.

Have owned two 2001's. I thought they were sound, good driving and zippy. Never had to have any repairs done but like all front wheel drives I would think they would be expensive if any major work needed to be done.

Its more of a name change thing. Thats the latest way to get you to replace your perfectly fine vehicle. Cars can last decades now, but who wants to drive a vehicle that is no longer in the product line-up. Just more ways to make money, nothing wrong with that, as long as people are honest with themselves and just admit they want the shiny new thing instead of justifying it by saying their car is "obsolete".

I had three Tauri as Company cars. We kept them 6 years no matter what. Were actually pretty good although I definitely got tired of them. I had an '88 a '94 and a '00.

Mymother had a Taurus wagon. Steered like a tank. They never impressed me. Certainly won't make a future "Classic" list.

Dan

The Corvette has been in steady production since 1953. The Suburban was unveiled in 1936....still making them also.

The Taurus models have been market leaders, giving Toyota a run for the money. The Camry and the Taurus vied for year for the #1 title with both splitting the honors. I had an '88 model that was extremely dependable and currently own a '96 that has been a decent ride. My one reservation is that in the '96, NOTHING is easy. I have changed an alternator and the crank pully assembly and they were both major ordeals. (The car has 112,000 miles- it's been relatively trouble free though.)

I'd buy another if the wife weren't so mini-van happy.

UFM82
