elgin 3.6 1954???<br />57158521 is this 1954<br />is it elgin<br />is it worth rebuilding if poor compression?<br />how do i start?

compression is good<br />start recoil does not engage flywheel<br />how do i fix this<br />is this a scott motor<br />it is water cooled and west bend appear to be<br />air cooled thanks

You are corrrect,your motor was built by West Bend. It is a 1947 3.5 hp model. You may find a copy of a general outboard repair manual at your public library. Ask in the reference section maybe. They may have something on your TN as well.
