electronic ignition

just converted my prestolite distributors to electronic ignition on my '85 3.8L omc's. i have made up the shift interuptor circuit, my question is hoe to hook up the wires from the ignitor. black goes to - side of coil and red goes??? to + side of coil?

it is a pertronix--it is hooked up to coil black to negative side and red to positive side, the boat runs.....im just afraid that if it is not hooked up correctly that i could damage it.

It doesn't appear that anyone here knows much about the hookup of the pertronix (at least they didn't reply to the other post) and I remember someone saying on another forum that the resistor was necessary in some systems, that is why I suggested contacting Pertronix and finding out for sure. <br />It will be much better when they (Pertronix) get their manuals on their website.

Firstly, I thought all 3.8 GM engines were stagger fire engines if so I don't think anyone makes a conversion kit. If it's Pertronix It's the same as Sierras and there is a wireing diagram on the page with the listings of the kits in the Sierra Catalogs and there is more info listed on this site listing as how to overcome the problem of the shift modules
