So I just purchased the Hot Spark Electronic Ignition Conversion Kit for my Volvo Penta AQ131D. Has anybody installed this product on yours?

Yes. Though my motor is the AQ125A, very similar.

Just installed the exact same one on my AQ125A bench engine.
I put the Pertronix unit on my AQ125B in my boat. The units are very similar.

It probably took me no more than 30 min to install on the bench engine. Just follow the detailed instructions and you should be in good shape.

I put the Hot Spark on my AQ130D. Works great. One bit of caution, reverse polarity and you'll be buying another one. At least that's what I heard (that's my story and I'm stickin' to it ).

What version of the Hot Spark did you guys purchase. I bought the right hand one listed below. When I got the package it looked backwards. Is this the one you guys installed just wanting to double check..

Run Hot Spark on my AQ170 for two seasons -no problem at all.
Bosh Distributor number-very important.

I put the 3BOS4U1 on my AQ125A. According to the hot spark website it is the same for your AQ131 unless it has a different distributor.
Under some of the engines there are different distributors that may be on the engine dependent on production date.

Let us know what makes it look backwards to you. Maybe a picture would help.
With mine I also received and extra bag with a round rubber plug, new connectors and a few misc. other items. These were required to make the unit fit properly on the distributor.

Thanks for the help as I did purchase the correct kit. After reading numbers on the distributor I also found the Motor type listed on the web-site go figure. Thanks again.
