Electrical Problem

Hello Guys,

I have a 1977 Johnson 35hp, 35E77C. I took the carb off to clean it and in order to do that I had to disconnect the starter moter from the powerhead to get to the carb bolts. I put the carb back on, put the starter motor back on, turned the key and nothing happened. No clicks, no sounds, nothing. This engine has an electric start, and electric choke, manual shift.

Starter motor doesn't turn, and electric choke doesn't work. Here's what I have checked so far:
1. I have hooked up a brand new battery after trying two others.
2. Checked that the neutral start plunger is hooked up and engaged in neutral.
3. Checked that the throttle is not advanced too far. It is at idle.

It all worked fine a week before this happened, so I feel like I may have tripped something when I took the starter motor off. I was hoping someone might have a diagnostic suggestion beyond what I have already tried.

Thanks-Jeff.

Re: Electrical Problem

There is an inline 20 amp fuse at the starter. You likely blew it.
