electrical problem with 18 hp Nissan

My motor (2002 Nissan 18hp 4-stroke, model NSF18B2EF1) will not start
and has no spark on the plugs. I measured the ignition coil continuity and
found a resistance of 0.5 Ohms on the primary and 19.4 kOhms on
the secondary. From what I've read online, those values seem good.

I then measured the voltage from the CD unit to the primary and got a
reading of 52 V max (AC). If I'm not mistaken, the voltage should have been
somewhere between 200 V and 300 V. I believe that the CD unit has
gone bad, but without a manual, I can't do go much further.

Now a few questions/requests.
1. Could there be another problem (besides a bad CD unit) causing the
low voltage to the primary?

2. Where can I order a CD unit replacement online?

3. Where can I order a service manual for my motor?

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks, TGuy. My manual arrived yesterday. I'll post the results after I have a chance to make all the electrical measurements. I did have a little time last night, but want to double check because it appears that multiple components may have gone bad.

Re: electrical problem with 18 hp Nissan

After purchasing the manual for my motor, I checked the resistances of the
various electrical components. The exciter, alternator, ignition, and pulser
coils all looked good.

I did find a break in the pulser coil wire near the connector. That could have
my fault, but I don't recall pulling on the connector very hard.

The CD module was a different story. There are 110 measurements listed
on the chart that have values between 0 and 32 k ohms. Only 19 of the
measurements I made were near their chart value. The rest were either
open circuits or were in the M ohm range.

I ordered a new CD module which arrived today. Out of curiosity, I did a
spot check of its resistances. The results were similar to my original module.

Now I'm wondering if I performed the measurements incorrectly. Here is
what I did. I removed the module from the wiring harness and noted the pin
assignments using the wire colors in the manual. Then I connected my
multimeter to the terminals on the module as indicated on the chart and
measured the resistance.

It seems pretty simple, but did I miss something? Any ideas?

The tests are done with a standard multi tester. Either the values are correct or they are not.
