Good morning all

I have a mid 70's Mercury, model 110, 9.8hp motor that I was running last week. It will start up and idle fine. Everything sounds normal at low to mid throttle. But when I go to full throttle, I hear what I would call an arcing sound. I'm not sure what it is but I did cleaned and set the points before I used it. The motor seems to run fine at full throttle despite the noise. What is this and should I be concerned since the motor seems to be running normally?

Thanks

Hard to say if you have a problem but I would suggest that you take the cowl off when it is dark and run the old girl up. You will soon see if you have stray HT running somewhere and from there you may have a better thread on how to fix it, Arcing is a potential fire hazard so take care when looking.
Andy
