I've been having some electrical issues with my boat lately. I turn the key, but I'm not getting any power. I've checked the batteries and they're fully charged. I've also checked for any blown fuses. This being my first boat I also put in a new alternator and starter. Both are within full specs of the boat. The last time I had this issue I pressed the circuit breaker and then I got juice after that. Is the circuit breaker supposed to be difficult to push? It seems like it might not be pushed in all the way.
My equipment: 1997 Mercruiser 5.7 EFI, two battery setup with a selection switch.
What I've tried:
1. checked fuses - all good, no corrosion
2. checked batteries - both fully charged, no corrosion on posts
3. checked wires going to battery, alternator & starter - both are corrosion free
4. alternator & starter are both brand new
If anyone can help me track down my electrical issues I'd greatly appreciate it. As for the circuit breaker, if this is not normal, is there a way I can replace that unit? Thanks!
