Electric Winch??

Hello Fellow boaters.

Does anyone use an Electric winch? I'd like to see what people's thoughts are. Are they safe to use and has anyone had any issues with them. Also, is there one standard power source?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Electric winches are like anything else. You get what you pay for and a good winch is not cheap. Buy the best winch you can afford and don't skimp on the wire running back to the winch from the battery. Install at a min. 6 gauge wire. The bigger the better.

Those that spent the money and did things right wouldn't go back to a manual winch if you paid them. Then there is the crowd that would rather crank than spend the money.
