electric shift and light switch

I was reading on here a while back about using a 3 way light switch to "shift" the old electric shift motors.. can someone refer me to the post I have searched and couldnt find it. I want to see if this is possible on a motor for a neighbor, I havent got into it yet but the wiring is there just no "shifter" any help would be greatful.<br /><br />Thank you again <br />Allan

Hi Allan<br />Wiring in a light switch or a common toggle switch will be easy, but there are a few issues...<br />>you will have no safety interlock with the throttle. <br />If you are at WOT, and someone switches it to reverse or nuetral.... :eek: <br /><br />>it would also be nice to have the gear box shift to nuetral before engaging forward or reverse.(eq. Forward-nuetral-reverse, instead of Forward-reverse-nuetral) <br />This could be dealt with...

I have the push button one for the Evenrude and may have the toggle for the Johnson.<br />Email me if you want one.<br />corm
