I have a 1988 150xp Evinrude that has had the Vro removed and runs on premix fuel. Is there any reason(s) that an electric pump could be used in place of the crippled vrpfuel pump combo? Thanks, Dennis

Many bad reasons, the main one being that there is no good way to turn the pump off if the engine stalls and that's a big no-no. The VRO can be replaced by a standard pre-mix fuel pump.

never do that, there is no method to turn off the pump if the engine stalls. EXTREME fire hazard.

you can use the new, premixed pump designed to replace the VRO ($350) or you can use 2, part 0385784 FUEL PUMP ASSY, inline one is pickup pump, other works as pressure pump. uses pulse line from old vro.
