I went down to the vessel to remove some old, non-working equipment, such as an old compass and a wash down pump. They were taking up too much space and still had all their wiring in place. I did my best to follow the wires to their power source and removed them. After I was done un-doing the wires, my fuel gauge, hourmeter, battery charge meter, power tilt/trim were not working. All of these things go back to the remote control throttle. Usually my gas guage shows empty until I turn the key, and then one position before "Start" the gauge will show the correct amount of gas, so it seems that somewhere between the gauge, the remote control, and the battery the connection is not being made. Other equipment on board that doesnt go back to the remote control seems to work fine At one point I accidently re-attached my battery backwards, could this have blown a fuse located within the engine itself? It seems as if the wires that are attached to my dash gauges come directly from the remote control, and not from the fuse box under the dash so I cant figure out the source of their power. Im sorry if I cant explain in more professional terms, but I m truly baffled by electricity. Thanks for any help, it is truly appreciated. Pat

I forgot to mention in my original post that I have a Yamaha 130 2000 2 stroke and a model 703 remote control.

Pat with a screen name like patrolcar you must e on the job.As far as crossing the battery cables you may have cooked some elect. parts you won't know until you try to start the engine and see what will turn up.Yes there should be a main fuse under the engine cover but from what I see on the 703 control box that I have on my 2003 yamaha it does complete the wireing for the dash gauge .My repair manual only goes up to 90hp when it comes to wiring diagram otherwise I would send you a copy of it.Crossing the main battery cables if you are lucky could be you just blew the main fuse.

Hey Lonewolf, whats up buddy, I am indeed "on the job". I work in Brooklyn. Anyway, I went down to the boat today and found that the 30 amp fuse had indeed been blown. I replaced it and all ran well. Inside the engine was a 20 amp and a 30 amp fuse and the other one appeared fine. To blow a 30 amp fuse I must have really given the system a good jolt when I put the battery back on wackwards. Im so happy it all worked out because I pulled in a 30' Striper today after I squared away my vessel. Thanks again for another iboats.com job well done!!
