1980 70 horse Rude Seem to have gotten over my idle problems with carb rebuild Gonna hit the water and find out for sure tommorow Now my question is about the choke solenoid When I hit the switch plunger pulls back and closes choke like its supposed to When I let off the switch choke is still closed Is it supposed to pop the plunger back out via the spring in solenoid or is the motor vacumn supposed to open the butterflies? Mine will only move butterflies back out if I rev it and sometimes if it is just at idle it will stall before the choke opens back up Was just gonna hand choke but no access port so gotta pull cowling which is a pain Thanks for the help in advance

Re: Electric choke Question

There is a flat spring that is not positioned properly, it is supposed to hold choke open and is overriden by the choke solenoid. Look on the parts breakdown for your engine, item#52 spring throttle link, the end is supposed to be on top of the linkage.
